چکیده

Spectroscopic characteristics of Pr3+ and Eu3+ in K2Na2GdF7, K5Li2GdF10 and K3GdF6 fluoride matrices are considered. Crystal structures of these compounds have been ascertained based on X-ray measurement on single crystal samples. Energies of lattice vibrations have been derived from IR and Raman spectra. Spectroscopic features of crystals in the VUV region were studied using experimental facilities of the Superlumi station at HASYLAB in Hamburg. High-resolution spectra and decay curves of luminescence in the visible were used to determine the energy levels and excited state relaxation dynamics of luminescent ions. Relevance of energy transfer processes, which feed the 5D J levels of Eu3+ and the P0 level of Pr3+, is discussed. © 2007 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.

Use of thulium-sensitized rare earth-doped low phonon energy crystalline hosts for IR sources

Crystalline hosts with low phonon energies enable novel energy transfer processes when doped with rare earth ions. Two applications of energy transfer for rare earth ions in thulium-sensitized low phonon energy crystals that result in infrared luminescence are discussed. One application is an endothermic, phonon-assisted cross-relaxation process in thulium-doped yttrium chloride that converts l...

VUV spectroscopy of wide band-gap crystals doped with rare earth ions

Spectral and kinetic properties of vacuum ultraviolet (VUV) luminescence from different fluoride crystals doped with Nd, Er or Tm are discussed. Concentration quenching of VUV luminescence, the impact mechanism of the energy transfer from the matrix to the emission centers as well as nonradiative relaxation processes in the rare earth ions have been detected and studied. The crystal properties ...

Efficient manganese luminescence induced by Ce3+-Mn2+ energy transfer in rare earth fluoride and phosphate nanocrystals

Manganese materials with attractive optical properties have been proposed for applications in such areas as photonics, light-emitting diodes, and bioimaging. In this paper, we have demonstrated multicolor Mn2+ luminescence in the visible region by controlling Ce3+-Mn2+ energy transfer in rare earth nanocrystals [NCs]. CeF3 and CePO4 NCs doped with Mn2+ have been prepared and can be well dispers...

Time-resolved luminescent VUV-spectroscopy of pure and doped by rare earth ions crystals of strontium fluoride

The spectroscopic properties SrF2–Eu(1%), SrF2–Er(1%) and nominal pure SrF2 crystals have been studied using time-resolved vacuum ultraviolet (VUV) spectroscopy under pulsed synchrotron radiation excitation. The 4f24f 5d (f–d) and 4f24f (f f) excitation spectra and emission spectra (with and without of time resolution) have been investigated in the wide energy region at 8 and 295K. Moreover, th...
